Female PA central Hove 21 hrs/pw
Are you kind, caring, and dedicated? Do you enjoy making a positive difference in someone’s life? If so, we are looking for a female Personal Assistant to support my mum, an older lady who had a stroke earlier this year.
The stroke has affected her speech and mobility, and whilst she has made incredible progress, we are seeking additional support for the family to ensure she is well looked after, her independence is promoted, and she is happy. This is a rewarding long-term role for the right person, based in central Hove.
Your role will be to provide essential support with:
Household Tasks:
- Daily light cleaning and weekly deeper cleaning to maintain a tidy home. Her flat is immaculate, and we want to ensure that is maintained.
- Managing laundry, including changing and ironing bedlinen once a week.
Meal Preparation:
- Supporting preparing and presenting nutritious, home-cooked meals with care.
Creative and Enriching Activities:
- Supporting speech and reading activities to assist with recovery from aphasia (a language disorder affecting speech, reading, and comprehension). This can be holding conversations, workbook activities and memory games.
Personal Care:
- Being present in the property whilst she showers to ensure her safety, as her mobility is compromised, though she can walk and handle dressing herself.
- Assisting with hair drying/styling.
Medication and Companionship:
- Assisting with medication reminders.
- Providing companionship, conversation, and emotional support.
Outdoor Activities:
- We would love someone to have access to a car for work for a weekly outing locally, however we appreciate not everyone has access to a car in Brighton so whilst it would be a great advantage it’s not a deal breaker.
The position is for 21 hours per week, and we are looking for someone to work a minimum of 4 days per week, we can offer flexibility on the times – as this is very much about finding the right person to support my mum.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
1. Is compassionate, patient, and reliable with a good sense of humour
2. Can prepare healthy, wholesome meals.
3. Has a creative and engaging approach to supporting speech and reading activities.
5. Can commit to at least one year, with the hope of a longer-term arrangement.
Why This Role?
This is a chance to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. You’ll be helping a determined, independent woman maintain her quality of life while providing essential care and companionship.
