Personal Assistant / Carer Needed – Brighton (Racecourse Area) Hours: 10 per week Rate: £15.17/hour. Self-employed preferred. Start: ASAP

Personal Assistant (PA) Required – Brighton
Start date: Effective immediately (handover period available)

We are seeking a reliable, calm, and highly organised Personal Assistant to support a disabled adult living independently in Brighton.

This is a direct PA role (not agency work). The role requires someone professional, structured, and confident working within clear instructions, procedures, and safeguarding frameworks. An immediate start is preferred to allow a short handover and crossover with the existing PA, who has one week remaining.

Hours and pay

- 10 hours per week
- 1 x 4-hour shift
- 3 x 2-hour shifts
- £15.17 per hour
- Days and times to be agreed
- Some weekend availability would be helpful

Key responsibilities

- Practical daily living support and household tasks, including meal planning, preparing food, and supporting dietary requirements
- Admin support (emails, paperwork, note-taking, applications)
- Managing complaints and formal communication with the landlord
- Following structured guidance (e.g. Housing Ombudsman Complaint Handling Code)
- Escalating matters to regulators where necessary
- Making safeguarding referrals where required
- Liaising with professionals (GPs, housing, Adult Social Care, regulators)
- Supporting medical coordination:
- contacting doctors
- arranging prescriptions and medications
- organising medications into daily containers
- Occasional personal care on difficult days (e.g. washing, dressing, shaving)
- Cleaning, tidying, and home organisation
- Working as part of a small, tight-knit PA team
- Clear written communication to ensure procedural clarity and continuity

Essential requirements

- Experience in care, support work, or a PA role
- Confident handling professional correspondence and complaints
- Comfortable following formal processes and written instructions
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Calm, reliable, emotionally steady, and discreet
- Able to work collaboratively within a small team
- Comfortable with written communication (email, basic admin systems)

Desirable (not essential)

- Experience with disability, chronic illness, or mental health
- Experience with safeguarding, advocacy, or regulatory processes
- Familiarity with housing or health-related admin

References will be required.
