Flexible PA needed with great communication skills

Tan is a bright, creative woman in central Brighton seeking a personal advocate to assist her with a number of social and health-related issues. She has several medical conditions that can affect her health and wellbeing, and she requires an active listener that can communicate her ideas with care and understanding, and voice these to the institutions she needs help from. Tan’s physical health limitations and neurodivergence also mean she has difficulties managing her finances and household management.

An ideal PA for Tan will be a confident communicator with a positive attitude. There is an organisational aspect to the role, so planning skills are a must. However a key aspect of the role will be learning how to listen and identify her needs according to the tasks requiring completion. Some of her ongoing issues with institutions can be complex, so she needs someone with fantastic communication skills, who is caring and can be flexible. Tan needs someone who will not talk over her concerns or ignore them, but instead work with her eye to eye to help her. The role can be rewarding for the right person.

Tan has been diagnosed with ADHD as well as a form of autism and speaks English as a second language, so it’s essential to be patient with her when it comes to communication and to communicate with her as clearly as possible. Tan’s autism means she also struggles to process change and would love to find a PA who can work with her consistently.

The role will include:
- Scheduling and reminding Tan of medical appointments
- Accompanying Tan to medical appointments and helping her express her experiences and needs
- Communicating with institutions around sensitive and complex topics (complaints, etc.)
- Signposting to any relevant services in Brighton to extend Tan’s support network
- Making phone calls to support services or utility companies
- Assisting with budgeting and finance management

Tan is able to offer a high level of flexibility for the right PA to suit their schedule. This is a freelance position and she is offering a rate of £11.42 p/h.
