Autistic trans man loves swimming and music

I'm an autistic trans man with ADHD, assorted chronic health conditions and physical health conditions such as kyphoscoliosis living in Hove. I am interested in music history, radical politics and art and enjoy swimming and music.

I am looking for an proactive, honest, practical, patient, and open-minded person with good boundaries to support for 15 Hours per week. These hours will be split between two people, the first will support me for 5 hours in organising and coordinating my weekly use of hours, in particular for the work I will be doing with the second PA.

The second PA will be responsible for carrying out the plan set by the first PA and support me directly with my support needs, such as accompanying me to appointments, accessing the community, cleaning and much more. This PA would be responsible for the further 10 hours.

These hours would cover the weekdays with occasional support on weekends.

Applicants from marginalised communities welcomed. Previous experience of working with autistic people is preferable, but not essential if you are keen to learn and gain experience with developmental disabilities.

I rely heavily on my routines and need work to be organised around this and to be considerate of this.

The work would include -

Life admin -
- Managing appointments and helping me keep them, making notes during them.
- Keeping on top of medication, prescriptions and household supplies.
- Organising emails, paperwork and general life admin.
- Picking up odd items and help with small tasks.
- Helping with travel arrangements and packing if I go away.
- Helping with coordinating each week and using the hours I have available.
- Suggesting new ideas and ways of doing things.
- Light support for Direct Payment related work.

Home organisation
- Helping keep the apartment organised and functional.
- Laundry.
- Reducing clutter and creating systems that make everyday life easier.
- Noticing when something needs attention before it becomes a bigger issue.
- I have an eating disorder so am looking for support with cooking and managing. nutrition, this can be difficult for me because of sensory and restrictive issues so would need to be gradual support.

Accountability -
- A big part of this role is helping me actually do the things I need to do. Sometimes that’s reminding me. Sometimes it’s body doubling. Sometimes it’s standing over me to make sure I do something.
- Support with coregulation and having a calming presence to help me regulate my own emotions as an autistic person.
- I often struggle with overwhelm in different situations often revolving around sudden change, to deal with this I need a calming presence to help me through these situations.

Accessing the Community -
- I would like support with accessing social groups.
- I would like support with coming up with new ideas of how to access the community in a way that's comfortable for me.
- Going out on occasional walks.
- Going out to the park.
- The PA would need to have a driving license in order to help me get out to access the community, and also for attending appointments.

Some of the PA work will be carried out remotely online via video calls. PAs need to be willing to wear a mask in indoor spaces when working together.

To sum up the work simply, I need a proactive PA able to coordinate and organise my week and use of hours.
