Looking for PA to help our Mum stay independent and enjoying life
We are looking for support for our mum, Ali to be a 'memory support' and companionship. About Mum - Ali:
I live in Kemptown and enjoy being independent and am resistant to giving in to 'carer support'. However I have significant short term memory issues and struggle to remember to take medication and to get to activities that I enjoy and to engage with technology. I'm very sociable, love theatre and other arts and would like support being able to get out and out to more activities.
My daughters support me as much as possible but one daughter lives some distance away and both work full time and cannot commit to the increased support needs I have.
I am an active member of U3A and go to an exercise class every week and need help to remember to get to these / getting me to these activities plus other ad hoc activities.
I also need help prompting to take am/pm medication (from a dosset box that my daughter fills) and recording that I've taken it and although I resist it, need some help making sure I'm eating.
I'm intelligent and social and worked in theatre, recently audio describing for the blind and was a Samaritan for many years and miss having an active work and social life.
I'd therefore like someone to help me engage more with life.
I also love going out for coffee / eating out and trips out to interesting places / exhibitions etc so would be great to have someone to help me do more of this again.
I currently have care support following a stay in hospital and am looking to replace this with more of a PA role.
Requirements: AM and PM brief or longer visit to check have taken medication or prompt to do so, help arranging the day and dealing with any technology needs plus prompting to / support with making sure am eating properly. Then additional support Tuesday mornings to get to exercise class - Vantage Point, Preston Circus around 10am (either support with taxi or drive there), Wednesdays remind and accompany me walk down to Yellowave Cafe for my Walk and Talk group and the same on Thursdays for Operatunity group in St George's Church, Kemptown 2pm. Plus other activities / help to appointments during the week as we agree.
