Part-time Carer/PA with nursing care experience required in to cover the breaks of full-time staff in Saltdean,

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Personal Assistant to join our care team providing support to a 92-year female with vascular dementia and very limited mobility living in her own home.
 
We currently have a rota of 2 live-in carers who work on alternate weeks, and we now need an additional person 14 hours per week to help cover their breaks.

Tasks Include: Helping with day-to-day activities such as personal care; administering medication; meal preparation and other tasks that contribute to her comfort and wellbeing.
 
Wellness Support: Assist in participating in exercises and therapies to ensure her physical health and wellbeing

Mobility Support: Operating a Sara Stedy apparatus, a manual wheelchair, a commode and also assisting with a Zimmer frame as required.

Patience and empathy are essential for this role, and you need to have a very proactive approach, with the flexibility to adapt to the individual’s needs.

Essential criteria:
o   Must be self-employed
o   Must have a DBS check and be able to provide 2 references
o   Must be able to commit to a standard weekly working pattern
o   Must be comfortable with the tasks that the individual needs support with, including personal care, cleaning, food preparation, administering medication
o   Must have experience of working with dementia and mental health conditions
o   Must be proactive and willing to learn and adapt to the individual's specific needs
o   Must be willing to push a manual wheelchair as and when required
 
Desirable criteria:
o   Knowledge of Caribbean culture and traditions
o   Have the flexibility to take on additional paid work on an ad-hoc basis including extra overnight stays or break covers
o  Driving Licence
