Personal Assistant / Support Worker wanted — creative, funny, brilliant 15-year-old (4 hours/week)
We're looking for a personal assistant to support our son, a wonderfully creative, quick-witted 15-year-old who is trans, autistic, and has ADHD. He doesn't attend mainstream school due to sensory overwhelm, and he'd love someone who can bring energy, patience, and genuine interest into his week. This is a 4 hours per week role, giving some respite time during weekdays while his mum is at work, as his dad manages his own health needs.
He's an incredibly talented maker — knitting, sculpting, painting, drawing, and building elaborate costumes for cosplay or just his average Tuesday. He's deep into anime and manga, is completely obsessed with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and has a real fascination with clowns and circus performance (the eerier side, not just the fun fair kind — his sense of humour is delightfully dark). He enjoys an eclectic music taste; listening to music is a huge part of his day. He's also sharp and curious academically: biology, ethics, maths, and etymology are all things he genuinely loves talking about.
He's dealing with low mood at the moment and often feels isolated, so we're especially looking for someone who can be a steady, non-judgmental presence — someone who gets neurodivergence, doesn't try to "fix" quirkiness, and can meet him where he's at, whether that's companionable silence over a craft project or an in-depth chat about Stand abilities.
We're also looking for someone who is genuinely LGBTQ+ affirming and comfortable supporting a trans teen with warmth and respect.
We also have pet rats (called Rasputin and Beelzebub), so a comfort with (or fondness for) small furry housemates is a bonus.
What we're looking for:
-Genuine understanding of autism and ADHD — lived experience, professional background, or just real openness to learning his specific way of being in the world
-LGBTQ+ affirming, with genuine ease around supporting a trans young person
-Comfortable with sensory needs and low-demand approaches when needed
-Patient, warm, and not thrown by dark humour or intense special interests
-Happy to get hands-on with craft, art, or cosplay projects — or just be a calm, engaged presence
-Reliable weekly availability (4 hours/week)
If you love strange, brilliant teenagers, disappearing down metaphorical rabbit holes, and the idea of helping someone build very elaborate costumes, we'd love to hear from you.
